How to start Homeschooling....what do you need?
I have included FREE Resources to help you get started. These are in accordance with the Pennsylvania Homeschool Law. Included will be the Affidavit, Exemption Forms, and Sample Objectives. I also included the FACT SHEET to help as well. But, the most important thing is for you the read the law a few times to become familiar with it and then find an evaluator that fits for your homeschool program.

Homeschool OBJECTIVES - these are sample objectives I have used in my homeschool program before. Feel free to edit them as needed!

Special Education Objectives Approval Form:
If your child has been officially identified by your district as a child with a disability – which means if you were a former public-schooler & have an IEP, – your objectives need to be pre-approved by a person meeting particular criteria before they’re submitted to the district.
To pre-approve objectives for a student with a disability under this law, you must be:
- A teacher with a valid certificate from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to teach special education, or…
- A licensed clinical or certified school psychologist
This person does not need to be a current special-education teacher, nor does this person have to be your evaluator.
There is generally not a “form” for preapprovals, but here is a form I have used when pre-approving objectives for families.
***The teacher or professional should sign the objectives as well as print their full name and any relevant ID number or certification information.***
HOMESCHOOL PORTFOLIO:
When wondering what to put in the end-of-the-year portfolio, look no further. When I give evaluations, I give each family my checklist to help them know what to include and help to stay organized for their evaluation.
This checklist is to help with portfolios in the Elementary grades. Elementary is Kindergarten through 6th grade. Portfolios for high school are generally similar but when working with specific credits and various diploma options, these tend to vary.
Click HERE to download the checklist to help with your portfolio. **This was designed based off of Pennsylvania Law Requirements and made for the families I evaluate for. Your evaluator may require a different format or additional educational examples from your homeschool program.**
